Use of personification.
To make their poems more lively and state their fact clearly the poets take the help of
personification which is the literary style of imposing human qualities on
non-objects. Wordsworth also followed the trend. He used some personifications
to give a living picture of London city in the early morning. The sun, the
river, the houses, and the whole London City have been Personified here. The
sun shines brightly over everything, the river Thames flows according to its
own will and the houses of the city are still asleep in the early morning. It
seems that the whole of London city is lying still at dawn and is enjoying the
pollution-free atmosphere. Indeed the poem becomes lively getting the touch of
personification.
